The Enriquillo Lake

Is a salt lake in south west of the Dominican Republic. Between the saws of Neiba and of Bahoruco, it is found to  some 42 m under the sea level, and extends over 256 km2 since the miocene, and the ancient is on this depression was a marine channel between Port Prince and the bay of Neiba, In the center of the island "Kids" can be found, a national park, famous for their concentration of crocodiles, iguanas and  hundreds of species of birds, among them the most popular is the  herons and the flamingos.

The Oviedo Lake

The National Park Jaragua, in the province of Flints. With 1,374kms. square, of which 905 are marine, the park is one in the most spectacular areas protected in the caribbean.

The most common birds are the heron, blue heron, dove coronita and the seagull. There are mammals, like the solenodonte, the jutía and 11 species of bats to observe. The iguanas rhinoceroses and the iguana of Ricord, endemic reptiles of the island, are among the gaudiest. In the beaches of the park they leave to spawn the tortoiseshell, among others species of tortoises.

 

The Pit of Pelempito, it has a height of 1,500 meters above sea level, located in the same heart of the Saw of Bahoruco, National Park Saw of Bahoruco, with a virgin vegetation that extends for 17.5 square kilometers of length. It has a depth of 700 meters and temperatures from 25 until 0 centigrade are registered.  the center visitors  a majestic landscape, the triangular form of Pit of Pelempito, with a length of 2.5 kilometers.
 

 

Barahona is home  a beautiful beach called Quemaíto, baptized by the calidez of  water and smooth gravel. It is located at some 10 kilometers from the city and is approximately two kilometers  long. As the majority of the beaches of this zone, it is jealously covered by an immense green mountain and, al margin, a beautiful coconut grove.  San Rafael, a  beautiful beach, al the same as its river, that said itself in transit, is the unique one in all the country in remaining more than 100 years with an uninterrupted volume, through the impressive mountain that covers it.
